is a state-of-the-art, medically based weight loss treatment program that provides intensive lifestyle education, personalized attention and follow-up, and nutritionally complete Decision-Free Diets ™.
PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY Successful weight management is a matter of learning and practicing new skills, not willpower. The program focuses on teaching new lifestyle skills that will improve weight and overall health at the same rate. | | | | | | DIET OPTIONS | 1. Medically Supervised Diet 2. Healthy Solutions ® | 1. Medically Supervised - Program The medically supervised diet is specially designed for those who wish to lose 30 pounds or more. This option promotes significant weight loss under medical supervision, using only nutritionally complete weight loss shakes and entrees instead of grocery store food. This is the easiest diet to follow, as it requires no decisions whatsoever about what to eat. Each week while on the Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD), patients attend a 90 minute group session led by a trained behavioral health educator. During the first 12 weeks, patients are required to attend the same group with which they began. This is necessary because the basic philosophy, as well as a core curriculum, must be delivered in sequence prior to a patient joining on-going groups. Some of the basic “program fundamentals” taught include: record-keeping, computing food and exercise calorie values, nutrition, and self management. During the first behavioral group sessions, the behavioral health educator “lay the foundations” of the program so patients are aware of the program commitments (attendance and record-keeping) from the beginning. The behavioral health educator also discusses the mathematics of weight loss, water weight fluctuations, and suggestions for making the VLCD easier. It is critical to a patient’s success that they not only learn the content area, but also learn how to apply these facts to their own lifestyle. It is for this reason that patients continue in weekly behavioral groups until they enter the maintenance or weight management phase of the program.
